A chic hotel in a good location for the shops and old town
By station, but not noisy. 5 mins walk to old Olten and shops. Easy access to Stadthalle for exhibition. I had no car--public transport to exhibition excellent. Boiled my own egg for breakfastt---one of the 10 best I've ever tasted!
No adverse criticism
I loved the convenience of being practically inside the train station but feeling as if I had travelled a long way from it as soon as I stepped into the hotel. The staff were almost supernaturally solicitous and wonderfully efficient. The quality of my sleep on the mattress, which was firm in exactly the right degree, was even better than at home -- which has made me wonder how I can specify its dimensions to replicate it seven thousand (?) miles away. The trains of which the Swiss are so rightly proud do not clatter but move with a smooth, steady rhythm and so did not disturb me at all in my room facing away from the railways tracks. I would like the recipe for the Bircher muesli served at breakfast: it was fabulous.
In nearly every reasonably priced hotel these days, not just this one, I miss a bathtub. The suites at the Amaris do have them, but I wish they could be standard features for every room -- even though I know that that's whistling in the wind.
Was booked to stay at another hotel in a nearby village owned by the hotel but they booked me in at the amaris which was more convenient for me and gave me free breakfasts, the receptionists were friendly, the hotel is next to the train station.
At breakfast there had been a group staying overnight who were very noisy and their plates and food had not been cleaned from the tables, the staff were very unhelpful and did not speak, the breakfast itself was very poor with not very much selection. In my room at night it was very hot and even with the window open, which made it very noisy inside the room, the air-con had to be used which was also very noisy.
Good location, no payment or deposit for electric adapter.
Poor service during breakfasts (but good assortiment). Despite Twin room was booked, on arrival we were offered a Double room.
Helpful staff, clean rooms and would definitely prefer to stay there again
Very close to station - most important in Switzerland. 5 minutes from bedroom to train leaving!
Wonderful location next to train station, but quiet. Good restaurants nearby and in the altstadt within a few hundred meteres. If your traveling around by train easy reach of Basel, Zurich Luzern and Bern.
Airconditioning in the room is a perk most Swiss hotels don't offer; it was most welcome on a hot day. Also a Nespresso machine in the room is a nice extra. Being right next to a very busy railstation, the sound isolation was thankfully good.
Staff helpful; cleanness , breakfast simple but enough
Close to the rail station
The hotel rate should include internet connection
The staff were very helpful in all respects. The room had been newly renovated. It was spacious, very clean and the bathroom was terrific.
Lovely Hotel next to Olten railway station. Lovely big room with a balcony (3rd floor room)
Room very large, clean and comfortable.
Our room was on the first floor and was practically on the train station platform!!. The air conditioning unit was the portable kind, which was very noisy and hot air came out the back, but you couldn't sleep with the windows open as too too noisy. If we had been there longer would of asked to change rooms.
Durch die vorteilhafte Bahnhofsnähe eher nicht für Lärmempfindliche geeignet.
